Douglas J Designers Chosen to Compete In Prestigious Competitions
Riley Miller Captures Award in Las Vegas

OKEMOS-----The Douglas J Company and three of its very talented designers have won the applause of their peers in the salon world with appearances by the three—Riley Miller, Kelly Kim and Jeremy Lance—in prestigious Intercoiffure Noveau cutting and styling competitions. “We believe that our Douglas J team members were selected for these events because of their hard work, determination and likelihood for even more success in the future,” TJ Weaver, Vice - President and Co-Owner of Douglas J, said today.

Intercoiffure is an international association of independent hairdressers that aims to maintain high standards of service and professionalism in the hairdressing industry.  It is headquartered in France and membership is by invitation only. Douglas J is a member of the association.

Miller and Kim were named among the top 10 winners of Intercoiffure Nouveau’s 2008 “Creative Cutting” contest.  They represented Douglas J on the main stage at Intercoiffure’s 2008 Spring Business Symposium at the Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 6, where Miller took second place in that competition.  They had the opportunity to showcase their talents by using models to demonstrate their gifts for hair color, cut and style and then present the models to the audience.  “It was indeed an honor for Douglas J to have both Kelly Kim and Riley Miller representing us and for Riley to capture second place,” Weaver said.

Jeremy Lance, who represented Douglas J last year in the Las Vegas event, has been invited to Intercoiffure’s International World Congress in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in May, where he will represent the United States and Canada as part of the New Talent Junior Team.  Lance will design a look and present his model on the junior stage.  “Jeremy Lance is an even more talented designer than he was when he went to Las Vegas,” Weaver said. “I’m confident that he will truly impress everyone at the World Congress in Rio de Janeiro with his amazing talent.”

Miller, Kim and Lance work at the Douglas J Day Spa Salon in Okemos.  The Douglas J Company also has Douglas J Aveda Institutes, which provide education and training for aspiring professionals in the salon and spa industry, in East Lansing, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids and Royal Oak.  In addition, Douglas J eXchange Salons, which provide an intimate atmosphere and offer a menu of services in hair, color, skin care and massage therapy, are located in East Lansing and Ann Arbor.
