Richer, Deep Colors Echo Fall Hues

OKEMOS----The arrival of fall and the appearance of the bright colors the trees are now wearing have ushered in a corresponding change in hair styles and makeup, TJ Weaver, Co-Owner and Vice President of Education for the Douglas J Company, said today.

“The trend is to see darker tones of hair color and makeup in the fall, but now those colors are inspired by nature and everything is a lot warmer. We’re seeing richer, deeper colors with lots of different red hues for hair,” Weaver said. “In makeup, the trend is for either the eyes or the lips to pop with color.”

According to Weaver, many men are coloring their hair now too. “They’re coloring it to get rid of the gray and they’re also changing the color completely for a totally different look.”

Weaver also said that the solid trend in haircuts is the classic bob. “But it’s much more structured now and layers are being worn a little longer so the hair can move.” He also said that where hair had been “shredded” before, “now there is a push toward the precision cut.” In addition, the tone-on-tone look in hair color is now a more natural difference in hues instead of a sharp contrast.

Weaver said that at the Douglas J Day Spa Salon in Okemos, as well as at the Douglas J salons in East Lansing, Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids, the focus is on “creating a customized look for each guest.
